The dilemma

It is the first Saturday in June, and the letter from Kessler Academy has been on the counter a week: a place for Noor in ninth grade, 22 to a class, a real science lab, 50 minutes on two buses each way, an answer due August 1. At the Bramley summer fair, Ms. Ferris, the principal you have sat across from at council for three years, hands you a flyer about the October count, then lowers her voice. 'Take the Kessler place, {{NAME}}. Honestly. Don't think about us.' At the lemonade table Dalia stops you and asks if you have decided.

Your options

  1. Bring it to the parent council tonight and ask what your leaving costs them.
  2. Say nothing yet. Sit in on a class at both schools first.
  3. Call Kessler on Monday and accept. Noor gets one ninth grade.

The Seat Across The City

Your kid got into the best school in the city. It is an hour away by bus. Say yes, and the school down the street loses one more family.
