The dilemma

The signing is announced in an all-hands. Afterward your group of colleagues messages you all at once: what now? You have real standing here. People listen to you. Leadership has also asked to meet you alone tomorrow, and the message under their message is plain. What do you do?

Your options

1. Put your name first on a public statement that says building weapons that choose who to kill is wrong, whatever the contract allows. Some lines hold no matter the cost.
2. Stay inside and fight for hard limits. Draft concrete red lines for what the models can and cannot be used for, and test how far leadership will actually bend.
3. You cannot control what the company signs. You can control your own hands. Tell leadership you will not work on the weapons systems yourself, and keep doing the work you can stand behind.
