The dilemma

The dashboard flashes red. Sector 4 has one remaining ICU bed. The queue dictates it goes to a stranger who arrived twelve minutes ago. A new admission then pops up: Dr. Aris Thorne, your mentor and the founder of your agency. He matters to you. The stranger is a name on a screen. You hold the executive override code, and both will likely die without the bed.

Your options

  1. The queue is the only fair system we have. Assign the bed to the stranger.
  2. Thorne's survival is a net positive for society. Override the system.
  3. He has carried you and dozens of others through this career. You will not be the one who lets that hand drop. Override it.

The Override Code

One bed left in the sector. The next two patients are a stranger, and the architect of the very health system you run.
